What I Like” Chair Tag
1.
Set up chairs in a circle (about two feet between each chair). Have one chair for every group member,
less one. For example, if there are ten in the group including the leader, set up nine chairs.
2.
The leader stands in the middle of the circle with the girls sitting on the chairs as the activity begins.
3.
The person standing in the middle of the circle calls out one thing she likes. For example; “I like
dancing,” or “I like summer,” or “I like strawberries!” The seated girls who share the “like” must
immediately get up and find an empty chair while the individual in the middle must also try to sit in an
empty chair. The individual who is left standing without a seat must now call out something she likes.
Repeat approximately 15-20 times or when it seems appropriate to end.

Introduction to the Core Values; Protect, Respect & Connect
1.
Write protect, respect, and connect on the board in bold lettering, leaving space between and under
each word.
2.
Read the three words aloud.
3.
Explain that these three words reflect the core values of the curriculum. Everything they do in these
groups is designed to ensure that they protect, respect, and connect with themselves, each other, and
the world in which they live. These values will be the filter or guide for all decision-making.
4.
Ask the girls to share their definitions and meanings of these values. Write their words under each
value to which they refer, adding suggestions of your own.
5.
Explain that before they can support one another, they must first ensure that they feel safe with one
another. This requires that they set group guidelines that you will all honor. How can they protect each
